Polls are closing across the U.S. as voters are deciding control of Congress in an election that could define President Donald Trump’s final years in office.
CNBC’s Election Desk projects that control of the U.S. House “leans Democratic” and that Democrats will win a minimum of the chamber’s 435 seats with Republicans winning at least 160. Democrats flipped the North Carolina Senate seat with a victory by former Gov. Roy Cooper.
All 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats are at stake, as Republicans try to defend narrow majorities. Voter frustration with Trump’s war in Iran, inflation, perceived government corruption and immigration policy could weigh down Republicans. But the GOP has the bulk of billionaire campaign spending.
